Biography

Bio: Valerie Murphy is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Supervisor Designation (LPCC-S). She earned a Master of Arts in Education from The University of Akron. Valerie has worked in mental health and substance use treatment providing therapy as an outpatient counselor. Valerie has a history of counseling in a variety of settings including outpatient, intensive outpatient program, partial hospitalization program and residential settings. Valerie also has experience with children and adolescents in outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential and school-based settings. Valerie has over a decade of experience working in a gender-specific program for adult women in a dual diagnosis treatment program, focusing on complex trauma and substance abuse. Valerie also provides EMDR via telehealth on an outpatient basis for a private practice. Valerie is a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).  In addition to counseling, Valerie is a Registered Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance, and works breathing techniques and somatic movements into EMDR resourcing.
